Materials Needed

Paper: One square sheet of paper (any size, but 6 inches x 6 inches (15cm x 15cm) is recommended for a good-sized bookmark).

  • 5 inches x 5 inches (12.5 cm x 12.5 cm)

Paper Type & GSM

For best results, use lightweight paper (around 70-120 GSM) to make folding easier. You can opt for colorful origami paper, scrapbooking paper, or even recycled paper for an eco-friendly touch.

Instructions

Step 1: Start with the color you want your heart to be facing down.

Step 2: Fold the left edge to meet the right edge.

Step 3: Unfold previous step.

Step 4: Fold the bottom edge to meet the top edge.

Steps 1 to 4 for folding origami heart bookmark.

Step 5: Unfold previous step.

Step 6: Fold the bottom edge to meet the middle crease.

Step 7: Flip your paper over from left to right. Keeping the fold you just made at the bottom.

Step 8: Fold the bottom left corner to meet the middle crease.

Step 9: Fold the bottom right corner to meet the middle crease.

Step 10: Flip your paper over from left to right, keeping the point at the bottom.

Step 11: Fold the bottom point to meet the top edge.

Step 12: Flip your paper over from left to right.

Steps 9 to 12 for folding origami heart bookmark.

Step 13: Open out the 2 small rectangles found in the middle of the bottom edge of the paper.

Step 14: Squash fold the small rectangles down, so they sit flat.

Step 15: Fold the bottom left and right corners inwards diagonally.

Step 16: Fold the bottom point of the left side up a little.

Step 17: Repeat previous step for the bottom point of the right side.

Step 18: Flip your paper over and arrange it so the heart is at the top.

Step 19: Fold bottom edge up slightly.

Step 20: Flip your paper over.

Step 21: Fold the left edge in to just past the middle.

Step 22: Fold the right edge in just past the middle.

Step 23: Tuck the right edge into the left.

Step 24: Flip your paper over. Completed origami heart bookmark.
