Tips For Success
- Fold Neatly: Precision is key! Make sure your folds are sharp and clean to ensure your egg cup stands firm and looks polished.
- Choose the Right Paper: Use square paper that is easy to fold but sturdy enough to hold an egg. Origami paper or lightweight cardstock works well for this project.
- Practice First: If you’re new to origami, start with a scrap piece of paper to get the hang of the folds before using your final materials.
- Press Creases Firmly: Use a ruler or a bone folder to create crisp creases, which will help the egg cup hold its shape.
Common Mistakes & How To Avoid Them
Cup Won’t Hold Shape: If the egg cup collapses, the paper might be too thin or your creases are not sharp enough.
Opt for slightly thicker paper and recrease the folds firmly.
Color, Paper Ideas, and Variations
- Easter: Use pastel-colored paper for a festive Easter vibe. Pair pink, yellow, and baby blue cups for a spring-themed table setting.
- Themed Parties: Match your egg cups to party themes—gold and silver for Christmas, or red and white for Valentine's Day treats.
- Add visual interest with floral, polka dot, or striped paper. For kids, try cartoon or animal-themed prints.
- Decorate your paper with markers, stickers, or stamps before folding for a unique and creative twist.
