Materials Needed
- Square paper: 6x6-inch (15x15cm) paper works well, especially in red for Santa’s outfit.
- Type of paper: Standard origami paper (70-100 gsm) or any colored paper suitable for folding.
Instructions
Step 1: Start with the color you want you Santa to be facing down. Arrange the paper so it sits in a diamond shape.
Step 2: Fold the bottom corner to the top corner, crease well.
Step 3: Unfold previous step.
Step 4: Fold the left corner to the right corner.
Step 5: Unfold previous step.
Step 6: Fold the bottom left edge of the paper to the middle crease line.
Step 7: Fold the bottom right edge to the middle crease line. You should now have a kite shape.
Step 8: Fold the bottom point to meet the top point.
Step 9: Flip the paper over from left to right.
Step 10: Fold the top layer of the paper down to form a triangle. This is the face and beard. Make sure you leave a gap between the point of the triangle and the bottom of the paper.
Step 11: Fold the top edge of the triangle you just folded down to make a small strip.
Step 12: Flip the paper over from left to right.
Step 13: Fold the outer left and right sides in, lining it up with the sides of the bigger triangle.
Step 14: Flip the paper from left to right.
Step 15: Use markers or stickers to decorate your Santa. Optional: fold the bottom corners back slightly to give your Santa a different shape.
