If you want a table detail that feels a little more fun and creative than a standard fold, this shirt napkin folding idea is a great one to try.
Made using a paper napkin, it transforms a simple square into a folded shirt shape that works beautifully as a place setting accent or decorative touch for themed tables.
It's especially popular for Father's Day tables because the shirt shape naturally ties into the idea of a dressed-up shirt look without needing anything complicated.
It also fits nicely into napkin folding ideas for every occasion, especially when you want paper napkins to feel more styled and intentional instead of purely functional.
If you enjoy exploring different folding styles, you might also like the bow napkin fold with ring, which adds a softer decorative detail to each place setting.
For something more structured and functional, the striped diamond pouch napkin fold works well for holding cutlery.
And for a more sculptural centerpiece effect, the standing napkin fan adds height and visual impact to the table.
This shirt fold works best when you want something simple, recognizable, and slightly playful that still looks neat across a full table setup.

Skill Level
★★☆☆☆ (Easy)
Materials Needed
1 square paper napkin (preferably medium-weight, around 60-80 GSM)
Instructions
Step 1: Typically, paper napkins come folded into quarters. Open out your napkin, arrange it to sit like a diamond shape, and make sure the color you want your shirt to be is facing down.
Step 2: Fold all 4 points in to meet the middle. Sometimes paper napkins aren't cut properly, so try to match the points to the middle as best as you can (like I did in the image).
Step 3: Fold both the bottom edge and top edge in to meet the middle.
Step 4: Rotate your napkin 90 degrees so it sits vertically as shown.
Step 5: Fold the bottom left and bottom right layers out on a diagonal along the lines shown.
